The Lord is Passing By!

God has His way of calling us to a quiet place, away from the world’s noise. Surrendering to His call requires us to shed our need to be in control, to cease our schemes for center stage, and to silence our relentless practice of blame. The quiet place God is calling us to is divine. He will shelter us there and give us instruction that will offer hope in the time of despair. Need relief from the noise surrounding you? Press your way to God’s ear. Await His invitation to come into His presence. And listen for His whisper when He asks, “What are you doing here, my child?” What will you say to your Creator in that still, quiet place? What will you do? What will you pour out to Him while you have His attention? The Lord is passing by.

The Lord said, “Go out and stand at the mountain before the Lord. The Lord is passing by.” A very strong wind tore through the mountains and broke apart the stones before the Lord. But the Lord wasn’t in the wind. After the wind, there was an earthquake. But the Lord wasn’t in the earthquake. After the earthquake, there was a fire. But the Lord wasn’t in the fire. After the fire, there was a sound. Thin. Quiet. When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his coat. He went out and stood at the cave’s entrance. A voice came to him and said, “Why are you here, Elijah?”– 1 Kings 19:11-13 CEB
