Sometimes you need a song on your heart to help you get through. Not just any song but a song that satisfies. Once it’s in your heart, you can recall the tune, the words, but most importantly, you can recall a personal experience that connects with something or someone greater than yourself. Your current situation may be one of joy, sorrow, peace, struggle and/or pain. I would like to offer you a song to place on your heart – I refer to it as my song – one that, whether I sing it out loud, hum it at my neediest hour, or recall the words during a pause of the day, it gives me sweet peace. The first time I heard Melinda Watts sing her rendition of “my song”, it touched me deep within and it, that experience, changed my life. No matter your current situation, the song writer (Louisa M. R. Stead) tends to your experience with these words of this life-changing hymn,
“Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus, just to take Him at his word;
Just to rest upon His promise, and to know “Thus saith the Lord.”
Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him! How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er!
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus! O for grace to trust Him more!”
Now that’s just the first verse and chorus. As you approach the last verse, you may get a little weak as the words draw you in further to make an unadulterated admission, no matter your situation:
“I’m so glad I learned to trust Thee, precious Jesus, Savior, Friend;
And I know that Thou art with me, wilt be with me to the end.”
Finally, having made your connection with your GREATER, Jesus, you fully declare and embrace the refrain:
“Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him! How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er!
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus! O for grace to trust Him more!”
See I told you…sweet peace! Put a song on your heart. You can do this!
