There’s something in your way of greatness. It’s a persistent, nagging little thing that is single-handedly destroying your future, your ‘what might have been’. What is it? Your determination to do things your way. You’ve proclaimed God to be your Lord and Savior (or not), you’ve diligently put in the hard work yet you keep coming short of that ‘more’ that satisfies. We often call that ‘more’, greatness, however, we refuse to surrender to the one who personifies the enormous word. We sure do want it though. We’re convinced that our complacent ways and faulty logic will get us to something, somewhere much greater than our finite minds can think or imagine. Well guess what? That’s not how it works. That’s not how any of this works. The first step toward greatness is the difficult yet courageous act of confession, “Lord, I confess, my way isn’t working. I’ve been going about all of this the wrong way.” If you’re serious about that confession, it’ll break you down, all the way down. But you won’t have to stay there long because soon after comes that sweet surrender with a proclamation from your lips, “Lord, I’m ready to do it your way.” Suddenly you feel a little lighter, you feel free and you’re ready to roll all the way with God. That’s pretty awesome. Now here’s the kicker. God’s ways are not our ways. It’s all good though! Just buckle in tight for the ride of your life and don’t let go! God will take you on a journey of greatness that is beyond man’s comprehension and Satan’s reach. Be mindful to not be lured by the enemy, taking enticing short cuts encumbered with mental games and temporary, self-serving illusions of ‘winning’. Don’t do it! You’ll be back where you started in no time, in sheer misery. Remember, God’s way is the best way! Hurry and get on board!

“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the LORD. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9 New Living Translation
