A few days ago my 13 year-old shared with me in a writing piece, a scripture that speaks loudly in her life right now. I was familiar with the scripture, however, the words she wrote after that made my knees buckle and my heart leap. She wrote about disappointment and moments of despair when she didn’t know what God was doing. She acknowledged God’s moving in the midst of it all, preparing pathways and opportunities, beyond her imagination. And she was grateful, resolved to continue to trust in God’s ways.
Her written words of testimony were like bread and water to my toiling. It nourished me. Her scripture citing was a part of the text found in Isaiah 43:18-21. It says,
“Forget about what’s happened;
don’t keep going over old history.
Be alert, be present. I’m about to do something brand-new.
It’s bursting out! Don’t you see it?
There it is! I’m making a road through the desert,
rivers in the badlands.
Wild animals will say ‘Thank you!’
—the coyotes and the buzzards—
Because I provided water in the desert,
rivers through the sun-baked earth,
Drinking water for the people I chose,
the people I made especially for myself,
a people custom-made to praise me. ” (The Message Bible)
God is about to do something brand new and He’s already clearing the way for it. He is stirring up life in you, giving renewed purpose and unimaginable favor. Why? Because He’s God. He’s Protector. He’s Redeemer. He’s Friend. There is no-one who can keep you from the new but you. Not a naysayer, hater, wanna-be duplicator, bitter-spirited, or negative-minded person can succeed with their attempts to kill, steal and destroy you and your purpose. The Bible says that even though they gather around you, come against you, to harm you, they will stumble and fall (Psalm 27)! God is your strength. And His word is true. Come from behind your hidden places, come forth to the place others said you would not be, come into position for your great revealing to be used mightily by God! Your humble work has not gone unnoticed. Your unadulterated praise to your Heavenly Father has been accepted. Your struggles have not been in vain. Behold, God is declaring a new thing. Won’t you grab hold of it? Won’t you follow His lead? You can do this!
