Today my family celebrates the birthday of our youngest child. She has an independent spirit and an old soul. No matter her joys or sorrows on one day she finds a way to grab hold of joy in the next day. And her birthdays are always exciting. We usually have to brace ourselves for her birthday reveal. Every year it seems she undergoes an overnight makeover, awakening in the morning with a new attitude. Lord help us! (Laughing out loud)
Quiet as it’s kept, I think you may need a little makeover. Maybe even a new attitude. Well, guess what? Today is your birthday! Yes, your birthday! God wants to give you a birthday makeover and a new attitude! He wants you to encounter a rebirthing. It’s time to purge your old ways and old self into yester year so that God can wash you afresh and give you a new spirit for a new day. Admit it, it’s been a long-time coming. God desires to shower down newness upon you.
Ezekiel 36:25-27 says, “I’ll pour pure water over you and scrub you clean. I’ll give you a new heart, put a new spirit in you. I’ll remove the stone heart from your body and replace it with a heart that’s God-willed, not self-willed. I’ll put my Spirit in you and make it possible for you to do what I tell you and live by my commands.” (The Message Bible)
So they say it’s your birthday, well it’s my birthday too! I want and need the hand of God to cleanse me and to renew me too! There’s no shame in making that confession. For our desire should link up with His word – seeking to please God, living according to His expectations. 2 Corinthians 4:16 reminds us that as a follower of God, no matter the attacks against us, we do not lose heart, for inwardly we are being renewed by Him daily. What an awesome rebirthing experience!
